Short bio

I received the Master degree in Computer Science from the University of Pisa (I) cum laude and the doctoral degree in Computer Science from Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne - EPFL (CH). Prior to joining the University of Milan in 2003, as assistant professor, I worked for several years in public and private organizations, including CSELT of Turin, now Tilab (I), Datamont Spa of Milan (I) and Elda Ingegneria Group of Treviso(I), first as researcher, then as R&D Coordinator and Project Manager of European research projects, and finally as co-founder of a start-up company operating ěn the area of geographical data management in road and traffic applications. I've spent one year (2007) in EPFL (CH) in the lab of Stefano Spaccapietra. I teach at the School of Science and at the School of Humanities. I am member of IFIP WG 2.6 on Database, member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Information Systems (Elsevier) and co-organizer of the ACM Springl Workshop series on Security and Privacy in Location Based Services and GIS (SPRINGL '08-SPRINGL '11)
