According to the main theme of the EDBT conference, today's horizons of the database field appear without limits. Peer-to-peer architectures, the Grid, personal information systems, pervasive and ubiquitous computing, networked sensors, biomedical informatics, virtual digital libraries, semantic virtual communities, database services, and trust management are just a few samples of the great challenges that drive research and development of the next generation of database technology. XML seems to be one of the main means towards this new generation. Therefore, following the experience of the DataX workshop at EDBT 2004, a new edition of the workshop is organized to discuss new and interesting applications and integrations of XML and database technologies.
The goal of the workshop is to bring together academics, practitioners, users, and vendors to discuss the recent achievements, the relevant problems, and open issues related to the combination of database and XML technologies in all these environments. The workshop will provide the opportunity to debate new issues and directions for research and development work in the future.
In order to foster a lively exchange of perspectives on the conference topics, the program committee encourages contributions from both researchers and practitioners. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
Workshop submissions must be in electronic form using Portable Document Format (.pdf),
PostScript (.ps). Papers should not be more than 12 pages in length. Papers should be
formatted according to the Springer-Verlag Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS)
guidelines for latex(2e) documents.
LNCS formatting guidelines and templates can be found at http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html.
All submitted papers will be judged on their quality and relevance. At least one author of each accepted
paper must attend the workshop to present the work.
Authors shall submit their papers electronically to dataX[AT]dico[.]unimi[.]it together with an ASCII version of the title and abstract.
Accepted papers will appear in the informal proceedings that will be distributed during the workshop. Following the previous experience of DataX 2004, Post-proceedings of the revised papers (namely accepted papers presented at the workshop integrated with reviewers' and workshop participants' comments) will be published by Springer - Lecture Notes in Computer Science series (LNCS)
